I have 4 kids, all boys. This keeps my very busy out of school during non-school times.

Science Fair Project

Dear 7th Grade Families,
Your child will have a chance to solve his/her very own science mystery in the upcoming weeks! This project was assigned to all seventh grade science students in class today. To start the project, each student chooses a science related question that he/she would like to answer. I handed out a peach colored project proposal form in class today for each student to share the project with you and also to write down their question of choice for the project. It is due Tuesday, October 1st.

There are three websites that have some good ideas for projects linked to my blog (http://surprenantscience.blogspot.com/). The links are on the right side of the page under the "science fair" heading. I have told my students about these links so they can spend the next week and a half deciding what interests them.

Through project planning and time management, your child will spend the next several weeks completing his/her project. The actual project due date is Tuesday, December 10th. They are excited about this challenge and many already have an idea as to what topic they want to learn more about. Today in class we spent part of our class period putting major project due dates in their planners and I answered any questions.

I will share due dates and project steps with you as I assign them to the students. I don't want to overwhelm them, so I have broken the project into parts. The first step is forming the question that they want to answer. As I mentioned before, that is due Tuesday, October 1st. I will be reminding them daily as the due date becomes closer.

You can support your student right now by discussing the project at home and helping them to decide on a topic that is of interest to him/her. Thank you in advance for your support as your child learns through this real world experience.

Please put Tuesday, December 17th on your calendar and join us at the Goodrell Science Fair from 3-4 that afternoon!

Please feel free to email me at the address below with any questions you may have.

Thank you,
